With a background in clothing design and many years of experience, Barbara works with wedding dresses, evening dresses, occasionwear, suits, jackets, coats, skirts, shirts and other garments that require careful fitting and precise finishing. Her work focuses on quality, comfort and attention to detail, helping each piece fit beautifully while preserving its original character and craftsmanship. Friday appointments are available by prior arrangement only.

I’ve been to Barbara a few times now. I love her thoughtful and honest approach to alterations. I recently had two dresses adjusted, one being very fine sheer material which had to be taken out at the waist. Barbara was very honest that taking it out at the darts might leave some marks where the old stitches were but I was happy to try anyway. When I got the dress back it was amazing! I can’t tell where she adjusted it, only that it fits perfectly. Her work is meticulously and I feel confident whenever I leave things with her. I was in two minds about whether to have the sleeves adjusted and Barbara suggested I wait till the other adjustments were done to see how I felt about this. I think this says a lot. She cares about her customers. I highly recommend her for what ever it is you need adjusting.

Wow what can I say Barbara's skills are incredible. I do not no how she did it, but she practically made my wedding dress into a completely different one by taking it in , cutting bits off , adding linning, adding bits , making up the back ,adding arms and lace. My dress was super baggy around the waist and bum when i brought it and it went straight down due to having to get a bigger size to fit my wide back and hips. Barbara therefore took it all in to fit my body to give me a waist and shape .She's incredible. She's so friendly , so kind and will do everything to make your dress just how you want it. She goes the extra mile and works all the hours necessary to get your wedding dress ready for you in time. Absoloutly incredible skill. I cannot thank her enough and would highly recommend. I couldn’t recommend Barbara enough! She altered my wedding dress and did such a beautiful job. The fit was absolutely perfect and everything fit exactly as I’d hoped, Barbara really understood the vision and I felt so reassured. Thank you so much for helping make my dress feel completely perfect for me 🩷
Barbara also altered a vintage pink St Michael jacket I found in a charity shop, taking it from a size 20 down to around a size 10, and somehow kept the shape and character of the jacket perfectly. It came out absolutely beautiful and really showed how talented she is. I will definitely be going back to Barbara whenever I need anything tailored or altered.
